JP Academy offer a BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Performing Arts, the qualifiction is achieved over two years, this course is fully funded. In addition to this, students have the opportunity to enrol on our Vocational Course, which further develops their dance, acting and singing skills and prepares them for the intensity of the industry.
JP Academy also offers a Gap Year Course, for those students who have completed their BTEC or A Level Course, but are not yet ready to go onto Higher Education. This intensive course is a one-year programme, which will give you the performance skills and self-confidence to be successful when applying for dance college or drama school. The Gap Year Course is for people aged 18 and over, who will benefit, both personally and professionally, from an intensive programme covering skills in all three disciplines: dance, acting and singing.
Students will study dance, acting and singing, and can choose an area of focus in either musical theatre or acting.
Dance: Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre Dance, Contemporary, Urban, Tap, Body Conditioning, Tumbling and Acrobatic Skills, Movement, Audition Skills, Repertory
Acting: Principles of Acting, Classical Theatre, Contemporary Theatre, Film & TV Acting, Auditions for Actors, Storytelling, Improvisation, Acting Through Song
Singing: Singing Skills, Voice, Repertory, Musical Theatre LAMDA Exams, Private Singing, Ensemble
Theoretical Studies: Performing Arts Business, Historical Context of the Performing Arts, Applied Maths & English
The two-year course will combine improving technical skills with gaining individual personality and dynamic performance skills. A regular technical class schedule will combine with master classes and mock auditions with professional casting directors, to help students develop their audition technique. All students will be involved in a variety of public performances and informal showcases throughout their two years, with opportunities to work in professional theatres.
